Task 1223 WordsBand 8.0+

The bar chart illustrates the volume of electricity produced and consumed by the top ten countries globally in the year 2014, measured in billion kilowatt-hours (kWh). Overall, it is evident that China and the United States were by far the leading nations in both electricity production and consumption. A general trend indicates that most of these top countries produced more electricity than they consumed, with Germany being a notable exception. China stood as the largest producer, generating 5,398 billion kWh, and was also the highest consumer at 5,322 billion kWh, showing a marginal surplus. The United States ranked second, with production at 4,099 billion kWh and consumption at 3,866 billion kWh, also demonstrating a considerable surplus. These two nations collectively accounted for over half of the electricity generated and used among the top ten. Russia occupied the third position, producing 1,057 billion kWh and consuming slightly less at 1,038 billion kWh. Japan and India followed, with production levels of 936.2 and 871 billion kWh respectively, both exceeding their consumption figures (856.7 and 698.8 billion kWh). Canada, France, Brazil, and Korea Republic all showed healthy surpluses, with production ranging from 618.9 billion kWh in Canada to 485.1 billion kWh in Korea. Germany, however, was unique, consuming more electricity (582.5 billion kWh) than it produced (526.6 billion kWh), marking a deficit among these leading economies.
